Mark Byington
About
Before starting Cobalt Power Systems Inc., Mark Byington spent 25 years in the telecommunications field, designing and managing the development of wireless broadband communications equipment. After two years at a small startup designing computers, and eight years at Harris Corporation/Farinon Division designing wireless products, Mark joined a startup called Digital Microwave Corporation as the company’s first employee. He spent the next 12 years at Digital Microwave designing state of the art microwave radios, and was vice president of engineering from 1991 to 1995.
His corporate experience includes stints as vice president of marketing at Netro Corporation, vice president of engineering at WaveSpan, and chief operating officer at Wireless, Inc. In 2001, Mark decided to step off the career treadmill for a year to focus on his three young children as a single dad. In 2003, he founded Cobalt Power Systems Inc., and has been enjoying being a part of the solar industry ever since.
Mark, who received a degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University, is a passionate advocate for Cobalt's customers, and is a stickler for excellence in every aspect of the company's operations. The Los Altos resident is also a classic car enthusiast.
